"Sorting through the Junk Drawer of Life" Series
In almost every life there is a “junk drawer”. That junk drawer holds pieces of the past – pieces of stuff we just can’t let go and pieces of stuff we will need later. There is a way to sort through the junk drawer of life and keep what you need, throw out what’s unnecessary and make forward progress in life.
Signs that you may need to start sorting the junk drawer of life: it’s so full you can’t take anymore, you’re upset but you don’t know why, even the littlest of things really set you off.
What to do with the loose change, odds & ends, remote controls, & cell phones in your life's "junk drawer."
"I Can't Make Up My Mind" Series
Making a decision in the “heat” of the moment, or the middle of a crisis, is usually far from an “ideal situation”. In the midst of the “crisis” and enormous choices we can step back from the madness and decide what’s best.
While the old “flip of the coin” may bring us to a quick decision it’s probably not the best way to make up your mind. Being intentional with our decision making process is the best way make choices that line up with God’s Word and His plan for our lives.
Two of the very best ways to make up your mind is to seek God and wise counsel. First, God always knows best and second, there are usually plenty of wise people who have “been there” and are willing to share their learning experiences with us.
"The Emotional Roller Coaster" Series
Jealousy is one track of the emotional roller coaster that can derail our life’s purpose and relationships. As we learn to “tame the green eyed” monster we can move from the jealousy track onto a more fulfilling life.
Heated arguments and blow ups reduce our relationships to battles with winners and losers. We can all win as we understand the true purpose of anger and how it can actually improve our lives and relationships.
Drama and Trauma make for sensational reality shows. In real life, drama and trauma can be debilitating and exhausting. When we learn to see these challenging situations as opportunities for change and growth we can stop the emotional roller coaster ride and really live.
"Stand Out" Series
The path to true greatness requires a “step down”. This means stepping down from a self centered life and stepping up into what really matters.
If you’re looking for true greatness and purpose you will serve. Serving is part of the secret of finding and fulfilling your true purpose.
It ought to be easy enough to be yourself. But it’s not. Being the real “you” requires risk and faith. When you learn to be content with being “you” your life will count for plenty.
"When" Series
When your best laid plans fall apart you can scream “it’s not fair” or make a decision that there is a better idea out there. Even when things are seemingly falling apart we can reach for the goal with confidence that while it may not be going as we planned – there is a master plan.
For most people there is a whole lot of life happening every single day. Day after day “too much life happening” can wear a person out. There may not always be a way to reduce your responsibilities and obligations but we can all stop trying to do life on our own and seek the help we need.
The problem with waiting is that it takes such a long time. When we can get our thinking out of the mindset of how long is this going to take anyway? And transition to what do I need to learn and/or do? we can move to the place of enjoying life even while we are waiting.
Sometimes cutting your losses and moving on is the right thing to do. When you “quit” what is not in your best interests you free yourself up to pursue the right path for you.
Most people have experienced the feeling that nobody seems to care. While it’s certainly not a pleasant experience it can propel us to new level of understanding that redefines how we see ourselves and others.
When you’ve suffered heartbreak, anguish, or tremendous grief it may be difficult to get through the day much less see hope for the future. While there isn’t a prescription for healing a broken heart there is a way to complete wholeness.
A half-truth is still a whole lie and over time deception erodes trust. When trust is broken is all hope lost? Will you ever be able to trust again? There are no “easy” answers but there are steps you can take to find out what’s next.
When your efforts seem to go unnoticed it can be easy to surmise that it’s just not worth it. When we dare to see beyond our limited circumstances we gain new perspective that makes all the difference.
We live in a fast paced culture that wears “busy” as a badge of honor. Before we know it we can move from busy to overwhelmed. In times like these we can transition from “overwhelmed” as we deliberately change our mindset.
